I BELIEVE

I BELIEVE: THE HOLY CHRISTIAN CHURCH, THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS

Acts 2:42

“They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”

Summary

Today, Pastor Brian challenged us to recognize that the church is not a building or a service time. The church is US—the believers who know Jesus as our personal Savior. As the church, we are to gather to worship and scatter to live out our faith in our everyday life.

Discussion

  • In your own life, how do you see the reality of “gather for worship and scatter to fulfill the Great Commission” being lived out? Give an example from the past few weeks when you knew you were living it out.
  • As believers we are called to make disciples. Discuss your personal journey of disciple-making growth.
  • Think of someone you know who needs to be encouraged and challenged to gather for worship consistently. How can you be intentional in reaching out and encouraging them this week?

Prayer

Pray for a deeper understanding of what it really means to be the church. Confess where you know you have missed the mark. Ask for wisdom to take your next step to live as a disciple maker. Commit to be a believer who “gathers and scatters” in their everyday life.
