Luke: Jesus for Everyone

Luke: Two Men On The Road To Emmaus

Luke 24:25-27

And He said to them, “O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! “Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?” Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.

Summary

Today we learned from Pastor Brian’s message that like the men on the road to Emmaus we need to understand that scripture is about Jesus. When we take our eyes off ourselves and realize our lives are really about Jesus we gain hope for the future, which gives us power to live in the present. We can know that in the midst of difficult circumstances that God is fulfilling his purpose and his power is working in us and through us.

Discussion

  • Why is it important to understand that the scriptures are about Jesus instead of us?
  • How does knowing that help us to live in victory rather than defeat?
  • In what ways do you struggle with defeat instead of the power of the resurrection?
  • What are some ways we can begin proclaiming the victory of His story rather than the sadness of your own story?

Prayer

Pray to get a revelation of the importance of the scripture being about Jesus. Confess areas of our life where we make the scripture about us. Ask God to help you to live in the hope and power of the resurrection. Commit to stepping out of the defeat of sin and live in the truth of Jesus Christ.
