FREEDOM TO FORGIVE
FREEDOM AND RECONCILIATION

Ephesians 4:31-32

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.”

Summary

Today, Pastor Brian finished the series Freedom To Forgive with the final step, offering love as an act of forgiveness to the person who hurt you most. We looked at two important words: Freedom and Reconciliation. In order to forgive and find freedom, we must offer love to the person who has hurt us. Next, we look to restore the relationship and build trust with the offender.

Discussion

  • What is ruling your heart?
  • Why is offering love to the person that has hurt you so important?
  • What does this look like in your life with the hurt you are dealing with?
  • When we have reconciled and feel offended, why is it important to interpret through the lens of freedom and not the hurt?

Prayer

Pray that God will help you have a heart that is free from the offense. Confess your need to pursue freedom from your hurts. Ask God to help you protect the reconciled relationship. Commit to always letting love cover the offense.
