FREEDOM TO FORGIVE:
GRIEVE WITH YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER

Psalm 139:1-4

“O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord, You know it all.

Summary

Today Pastor Brian reminded us that hurt and offense have a way of wearing us down. We become so tired of the conflict, frustration, and drama that our focus remains on that instead of moving forward to heal. We must move beyond the anger and find the courage to grieve. It’s not easy or fun, but it’s well worth it.

Discussion

  • Describe a difficult situation where you’ve let an offense wear you down.
  • Looking back on that offense, have you been able to grieve that offense or are you still carrying it around? Why?
  • Are you allowing God to be present as you move through the healing process? If not, how could you do that?

Prayer

Pray for God to give you strength and wisdom as you work through an offense you may be holding onto. Confess if you are not dealing with an offense that’s wearing you down and you’re not willing to address it. Ask God to lead you in the grieving process.
