Luke: Jesus for Everyone

The Rich Young Ruler

Luke 18:24-27

“Jesus, seeing that he had become sad, said, “How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

Summary

We were made to worship. We are always worshiping something. The Rich Young Ruler is worshiping his money and possessions. Jesus loves us enough to point out our idols. We must find our idols and replace them with the only thing worth worshiping, Jesus.

Discussion

  • Take a moment and talk about something that can become an idol in your life.
  • How does the use of your money, time, and thoughts indicate what you are worshiping?
  • How can you replace those things with Jesus?

Prayer

Pray together with those in your home. Thank God that He loves us enough to show us our idols. Ask Him to give you the strength to replace your idols. Commit to putting Jesus first in your life.
