Luke: Jesus for Everyone

Luke: The Greatest

Luke 1:13-15

“But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your petition has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you will [l]give him the name John. You will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; Luke 1:13-15

Summary

Today Pastor Matt began our Luke series. Today’s message looked at the Life of John the Baptist. Jesus referred to John as the greatest man to ever live. What made John the greatest? John was humble, it was never about him. He pointed to Jesus, he was a guide. He never lost his faith in God and he had a relationship with God.

  • How am I experiencing God in everyday life?
  • How is my dependence on Jesus growing daily?
  • How am I living in the freedom of the Gospel?
  • Who knows the real me?
  • How am I serving others out of what God has given me?
  • Who do I know that is close to me but far from God?

Discussion

  • Jesus said that to be great in Gods eyes you must be a servant. What are some practical ways that we can serve others?
  • How can we be like John the Baptist and point people to Jesus?
  • Talk about a time where things didn’t work out like you thought they would. How did you respond to God?

Prayer

Pray for God to reveal any pride in your life. Confess where you need His strength to trust him at all times. Ask for opportunity to point people to Jesus. Commit to guiding everyday people to experience real satisfaction in Jesus Christ.
