I BELIEVE

I BELIEVE: HE IS SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER, &
WILL COME AGAIN TO JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD.

2 Corinthians 5:10

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”

Summary

Today Pastor Brian showed us that where Jesus is sitting at the right hand of God is a place of authority and rule. Jesus promised he would return and could return at any moment. There are two judgements, the Judgement Seat of Christ and the Great White Throne Judgement. The judgement seat of Christ is the judgement of rewards for the believer and the great white throne judgement is the judgement reserved for the non-believer. God desires that all are saved from the white throne judgement but it can only happen if we place our faith in Christ and follow him.

Discussion

  • How does Jesus being seated at the right hand of God impact our ability to walk in freedom?
  • How should knowing that Christians will be judged according to their works affect how we live our life in Christ?
  • In what ways does knowing that the unbeliever will be judged affect our relationships with those who are non-believers?

Prayer

Pray for God to help you to rely on his power and authority to walk in freedom. Confess to him your lack of readiness for his return. Ask him to help you to be ready for his return. Commit to disciple making growth that will prepare you for his coming and stir up a desire to make disciples.
