Faith In Everyday Marriage

The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man." For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Genesis 2:23-24 (NASB)

Summary

Today Pastor Brian talked about “Faith in our everyday Marriage” as we continued in our Movement series.  We learned three values that will help each of us live out our faith in our marriage.  God's design for marriage is that we share life together, live as equal partners fulfilling our different roles, and develop intimacy with our spouse.  Put Christ at the center of your home and bring strength to your family.

Three values of a Biblical Marriage:

  • Meaningful companionship
  • Authentic partnership
  • Intimate relationship

Discussion

  • What is the biblical definition of marriage?
  • The need for companionship is a human need, not a male or female need.  Discuss companionship with your spouse.  In what ways are you sharing life together?  If you have children, ask them how they see your relationship.
  • What can you do this week to live out your faith in your marriage?
  • Ask each other how free you are to live out your passions, desires, and who you are?

Prayer

Pray with your spouse.  Thank God for your marriage and the uniqueness of each other.  Request that if you’re living as roommates instead of sharing life that you become intentional about your relationship.  Ask for His Power to live out your faith in your marriage.
